TWO RIVERS by Ifeanyi Uba

Splash! Splash! Splash!
You would hear
When the two rivers meet
Where they meet at a tributary and make the sound
Splash! Splash! Splash!

Saying the two rivers are enemies
Quarrelling and fighting each time they meet
Causing noise and washing away the fine sands
And running over the fine pebbles
Making them brilliant and dlazing
Rushing towards each other in wonky
Like the harmattan wind

Angry and fierce they look
When the two rivers meet at a tributary
The sounds of their quarrelling and fighting are heard
Splash! Splash! Splash!
They make at a tributary
